On Wednesday in a 6.2 earthquake it and affected many people in central Italy and couple hours later, a 6.8 earthquake hit Myanmar(thousands of miles away). In central Italy, dozens of people died while in Myanmar only one died but several temples were damaged. Italy was hit by this earthquake because it is near the fault line that is between the Eurasian and African tectonic plates.
The earthquake that hit Italy is a tragedy, but I fear that there could be tsunamis that could potentially occur there now that can potentially have a greater damage. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2016/08/italy-myanmar-earthquakes-update/

It's hard to believe that a vegetable can have such an impact on the environment, but avocados are are proving that they can. Avocados have a popular demand, causing Mexico's farm workers to illegally cut down pine forests to farm more avocados. The deforestation of the pine trees is leading to the death of the monarch butterflies inhabited there. Another detrimental factor of the avocados being grown in the pine forest is they use 2 times more water than the regular pine trees.
Because I'm not really a fan of avocados, it is evident that I am going to be more biased on the side against the deforestation of pine trees for the avocado trees. I understand that there is a high demand for avocados but that shouldn't result in the deforestation of the native pine trees. https://www.yahoo.com/beauty/beloved-avocados-destroying-environment-184349881.html |
